A Musical Duel in 1717

In 1717, Johann Sebastian Bach participated in a musical duel with French organist and composer Louis Marchand.

Marchand had initially challenged Bach to an improvisation contest, but abruptly left Leipzig upon hearing Bach's extraordinary improvisational skills.
